Christophe Carpente
Architect ETH-SIA
Founder and Principal of CAPS
French founding principal Christophe Carpente graduated 1986 in architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich. Back in France, he practiced as an architect at Jean Nouvel's office on large international building projects. When Christophe moved to Italy to join the studio of Antonio Citterio, he further added to his experience in architecture various interior-design works in Europe. By moving to Switzerland later again, Christophe decided to extend his view on the practice by taking a seat on the client's side: at Bally, as head of architecture department, he then developed serious skills in commercial architecture. With this in-depth background of experiences in architecture, interiors, design and design process management, Christophe Carpente created in 1997 his own architecture practice, CAPS,in Zürich.
With CAPS, he started to support the Bally and Hugo Boss brands with various types of project services. From 1999 on, CAPS has been providing its services for Cartier by taking care of the worldwide implementation of the brand own store design. Accounting to Christophe Carpente own store design concepts with CAPS are the brands Christian Lacroix (LVMH Group), Alfred Dunhill (Richemont Group) and more recently, Escada, Hugo Boss (Marzotto Group) and Bruno Magli (Opera Group). Most of these projects have received a very large press review around the world.
Christophe has also brought CAPS to develop several corporate interiors, office furniture systems and industrial design. Currently, with CAPS he is exploring new areas of architectures for residential and home-furniture design.
